It’s not punishment, it’s pruning…
This is a third-hand quote, but it is amazing:
“I think there is a prudential reason for maintaining a progressive tax system (and we certainly can argue about “how” progressive it should be): namely, that if you believe, as I do, that the U.S. is best served by maintaining a capitalist system and a free market, we have to accept that one of the natural consequences of such a system is the accumulation of wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people.
Regardless of whether these fewer and fewer deserve the money they accumulate or are unfairly being punished by progressive taxation, the political consequence of such an accumulation of wealth is radicalism - a majority that uses its political power to destroy the system rather than simply to modify it.
In other words, progressive taxation is required to maintain the political viability of a free market.”

It’s a little unclear to me what this guy is actually calling for here. Apparently it has something to do with Gay Marriage. I assume he is in favor of Prop 8, being he sounds like a fundamental Christian, and you know how they are! He doesn’t say one way or the other what his position is but he does call for the “deliverance of the homosexual … for the salvation of their lives.” To me that sounds like a good argument against Prop 8 and in favor of gay marriage. What could be better for gay citizens than supporting them in creating stable, loving relationships? But maybe I’m being a little naive here and what he really wants is to eradicate homosexuality and convert gays to pseudo hetrosexuals who will fool their partners into thinking they love them. I’m so confused.

Oops, this comment was meant to go under the “Scary” blog post. Pardon me, I was having a “gay moment.” It must be the West Nile Virus acting up.
