Almost all religions profess that taking from the tree of knowledge is a sin. To anyone with a rational mind, that symbolism should seal the deal on an atheist president. We should crave knowledge and respect those who have gathered the most! Knowledge and reason will never lead to a power crazed leader.

I think GWB has laid to rest for all time the notion that a "faith-based" presidency or "faith-based" politics at all are superior or even desireable. When you divide the world into good vs. evil and you have a military capable of destroying all life on the planet (excepting maybe cockroaches) you are not a leader, but a danger to humanity. The meglomania of a leader who thinks God is "on his side" falls on the wrong line of sanity. I'll take an athiest for President over a "God-fearing [fill in the blank]" any day. The more devout the [fill in the blank], the scarier and crazier they tend to be.

Fear anyone who says they will protect you from the godless heathen enemy who is out to destroy you and everything you love. It's your "protector" who will enslave you and steal everything you own for their own benefit. Does anyone who has been paying attention for the last eight years doubt this?
